AAA: Little change in price at the pump

The average price of gas per gallon in New York has gone down one hundred since last week, according to AAA.

BUFFALO, NY – Drivers in Western New York are not seeing much relief at the pump this week.

AAA reports the average price of gas in New York is down one hundred from last week to $ 3.48. Last year the average price of gas in the state was $ 2.39.

However, in the WNY region the changes are inconsistent.

In Batavia, the average price of gas has dropped two cents, down to $ 3.42. Meanwhile, in Buffalo the average price has remained the same since last week at $ 3.45, according to AAA.

In Rochester, the average price of gas is down one hundred to $ 3.49 per gallon.

At a national level there has been a slight change in the average price of gas per gallon, going up one hundred to $ 3.30.

The month of January is reportedly the cheapest month for gas as demand drops. The price of gas is still dependent on oil prices. AAA reports that gas prices are not dropping because oil prices are back around $ 80 per barrel.

Crude oil prices increased after the Energy Information Administration reported total domestic stock of crude decrease. This added pressure to domestic crude oil prices, according to AAA.

AAA says drivers can conserve fuel by mapping their routes, avoiding peak traffic times, using cruise control when possible and combining errands into one trip.
